ulcerative colitis

STeve aged 37.
6ft 3. 13 stone,.

first flare up sept 2010 diagnosed march 2011.

had 2 horrendous flare ups - put me in hospital for weeks.
stressed to the hilt with business problems.

been on asacol n azathiaprene(?) for 6 months, and steriods.

steriods finished now.

blood test shows low white blood cells now - any advice would be great

What about trying daily probiotics and plant based vitamins to see if that will help as well? Try some stress management (i.e., meditation, yoga, exercise) to help you reduce stress. Hope you feel better soon! It is sometimes a hit or miss on working toward the goal of getting better.

Hello Steve and :welcome: to the forum. What has your doc said about the low WBC? Is is very low or only slightly? It could be down to the Aza - what dose are you on for this? How are you feeling in yourself? Are your UC symptoms settled at the mo? Lot's of questions here - sorry!

Hi Steve and welcome! I agree with Angrybird that the white blood counts could be down due to the Azathioprine. How low are they? Have your doctors discussed lowering your dose or trying another medication?

yes nurse has confirmed its because of aza's...
