Ok... a slightly embarrassing question... however, its not embarrassing to ask you folk as you know how it goes... but I've been noticing blood after pooping... not like in the stool, but as I wipe. I would think hemmorrhoids, but I just don't think so. And it also feels like I'm pooping hard jagged rocks. I'm a bit nervous. Is this a fissure? Should I contact the doc? Go on a liquid diet? What should I do?

Does it hurt when you poop or when you walk or anything at all. If so it could be a fissure. I would call up your doctor.

I hope it stops soon

It may be only some blood, due to hard feces or constipation; this happens to me sometimes, But whenever there is blood, I advise you talk to the doctor...

The source of the bleeding could be anything... feces too hard, too long between BMs, visible external hemmerhoids, internal ones that would only show up on exam, the list goes on and on. the ONE thing that bleeding definitely is is reason to see a doctor. Only after a doctor determines the cause can you really start to treat this.

Yes it hurts when I poo... however my poos aren't hard. So I dunno. I kinda would like to avoid the el doctor. But I guess I'll just wait a bit longer and if it gets real bad I'll call. I will say though that I went to the gym today and I was too tired to complete my normal regime... I usually do about 45 minutes on the elipticals, but today my intestines started hurting at the 10 minute mark, so I told myself to just forget about it and I only made it 6 more minutes before I had to go do something less mobile. I was disappointed. I'm hoping I'm not walking towards a flare here, because I just can't afford the time and effort of getting through another Prednisone stint.

On the happy side... my dog caught two grasshoppers the other day... she was so proud of herself.

Try soaking in warm water for a little while and try to keep your but moist. If your but is moist it is harder for the skin to tear and can heal already torn skin quicker then dry skin so it can help your bleeding if it is external.

Yeah, the idea of Jeff is very good. Sitzbath in warm water can sooth your behind...Also you may try some ointments that you can find at pharmacies to help for this (some have small amounts of cotisone in them , some don't)

Avoiding the issue in hopes that it will go away, or waiting till it gets so bad it impacts your life, or lifestyle... not something I would consider doing. My goal is to eliminate the deep cycles this disease seems to create. smooth them out to plateaus... Your bleeding could be something other than crohns related.. my 2 cents

Yeah... I'll do something about it... the boyfriend says to call the doc as well so I imagine I'll have to. Thanks for the replies guys!

Good for your dog!

I love that I can post this here...when I'm in that state (as I have been, often in the past) I find that applying regular ol' Vasoline to my bum and a bit inside, as well, helps future movements quite a bit. As for the cause of the problem, I'm not help. I still don't know the cause of my own. Seeing the doctor sounds like a good idea for both of us.
