Just wondering if any of you lovely ladies out there can still wear thongs. For the last two years I have only been able to wear hot pants or briefs due to this disease and the constant discharge of mucous and blood. So my question is will I ever be able to wear them again or should I be realistic and throw them out?

Love your question...I know just how your feel-ugly undies just bring a girl down! Well I can't speak for everyone but for me I have Granny panties for flares and fun undies for when I'm well.

You might save the thongs for romantic times, but for me it's just too irritating on a regular basis, since I have had fistulas and fissures, as well as skin tags. Well that just took the sexy right out of the underwear discussion!

I haven't worn thongs for ages now (generally I am too sore, and I am prone to thrush). Still have a couple in the drawer for 'romantic' occasions.

But I do some some pretty lacy short style knickers, and some which are like bikini bottoms and tie at the sides. So even if you can't wear thongs there are still some lovely options out there!

LOL yes I have a fair few Bridget Jones style undies that I joke with hubby they could be used as parachutes!I think I'm trying to hold onto something that probably never going to happen but your right nice underwear makes you feel good about yourself and throwing them out takes away that hope. I think I will get rid of the ones that barely have any fabric and really have no purpose hehe and keep some of the more practical ones and invest in some more nice briefs :)

Not to advocate pricey underwear, but Victorias Secret makes super comfortable underwear with little lace accents on the front. I also dont dig thongs, hemmerhoids make them uncomfortable. The underwear I usually buy are really comfortable, plenty of room in the back so no discomfort, and all cotton so theyre easy to wash just incase, no stains! Dont feel like you have to sacrifice comfort, sometimes a really comfey but neat looking pair of underwear is key! (My good friend works at VS, shes good at selling me their products haha.)

I go for comfort except for intimate times with the hubby and then I don't have to wear them very long. ;)

I did find some really comfy elastic-lace-rimmed panties that are cute AND comfy, though.

I wear low rise boyshorts.... I personally find them super cute and really comfy as they give full coverage of that area so there is no digging or pinching of sore parts and they never ride up. I have had this discussion with a lot of my guy friends and my fiance and I would say that the majority of them find cute boyshorts waaaay sexier than thongs.... I was actually quite surprised!! I usually just wear cotton ones for day to day, but have lacy/see through ones for "other" occasions. I tossed all my thongs and haven't looked back =).

WOW I am so relieved to see I'm not the only lady wondering about this! Thongs with fissures = nightmare city! I like the boyshorts idea.

Love this conversation! I have a lot of the M&S 'Brazilian' Style, they are comfy and still look nice. My mum also recently bought me what I call my 'Post-surgery knickers'! Massive ones which will hold dressings inside them if I need it and which I don't mind too much about getting covered in blood/puss! :p

I love how we are all in the same boat and understand, I finally took the plunge last weekend and got rid of some undies I know I will never be able to wear

Mature men usually find French Knickers much sexier than thongs.

They used to be made from silk, which is a gorgeous fabric, but not terribly practical. Today you can get them in synthetics that mimic silk but are much easier to launder. And they are very comfortable to wear.

I've never been able to wear them...I have huge, nasty perianal crohn's skin tags poking out of my a-hole (looks like my a-hole is turned inside out, or more like ballooned out) so there's no way I could wear them if I wanted to. They weren't really popular when I was younger (maybe they weren't even really around yet when I was in my teens/young adulthood) but since I started having issues with the perianal crohn's skin tags in my teens (though they would come and go with no rhyme or reason, or so I thought..and I was told they were hemmies which made no sense since I never had any bathroom issues) thongs only became popular maybe a decade ago (canada) to the best of my knowledge and my anal tags wouldn't and still won't allow me to wear thongs....

When my CD "came out" in full force and became sick internally I was in my early 20's, now I'm in my 40's so I guess no need for thongs anyways LOL!

I cant wear thongs anymore either, before i hated granny pants and would never wear anything else now i wear girl boxers. there so comfy and dotn intrude or cause discomfort.
Hoep this helps xx

You should def get the cheeky ones from Victoria's secret, they are so comfy and the lace is soft so you just feel pretty sexy wearing em. They still show off the booty, but in a better way than a thong, in my opinion. My aunt bought me some to have during both of my surgeries because I was cut open kinda where a c section would be, they dipped down right below the cut, and never ride up. I have never really been a big fan of thongs, and they def aren't worth all the pain and discomfort. I hope this was helpful. Good luck :)

acoop, I love those panties, infact, thats all I wear now. I don't even bother looking at the thongs! VS is so expensive though, so I normally find similar panties at the department stores and wait for the killer sales at VS
