Hi.
I have a now 7 year old daughter who has been suffering with ongoing stomach complaints since around the age of 2.5. My instincts are telling me it's Crohn's but most of her tests are not. She had endoscope & colonoscopy October last year that showed inflammation in her small & large intestine which is the only test that has shown anything. They said it was not chronic & decided to treat her with 2 lots of antibiotics to heal the inflammation & hence stop the symptoms. This did not happen she was worse on the antibiotics & showed no improvement once they were finished.
For many years her main symptoms were pains, nausea & cramps but no other evidence of possible IBD except the result of the scopes. Her symptoms are so bad though that it interferes with her schooling & every day life. Her symptoms seem to be completely unrelated to food & we have tried every diet known to man with no success.
They have finally referred her to a pain management clinic & they are re-scoping her in September but they are suggesting her inflammation was acute & has probably cleared up now & she is suffering chronic pain. I feel differently & will be very interested to see what the scopes in September reveal. She has recently started to have some bleeding although very minimal but some vaginal as well as bowel & also mucus in her stools (sorry for the details). The only other thing that shows up with ultrasound is that her lymph nodes are always enlarged which they keep telling me is normal for kids.
I am just wondering if there is anyone else out there with a similar story that ended up with a diagnosis of Crohn's & if so if you have had success with the relief of symptoms? I am passed the point of not wanting it to be I just want a name for her suffering so we can fight it.
Thanks for listening. I look forward to hearing from you all :ghug:
