Hi friends I hope everyone is having a good day. Caitlyn woke up feeling really badly so we managed to get her an urgent appt with the new doctor. The visit left me feeling very unsettled. There were a lot of positives but some big negatives too. I am going to do a list of both and see what you all think.
Positives:
1.Accommodated getting Caitlyn in quickly
2. Very nice office staff
3. Pretty close to home
4. Didn't want to run to put Caitlyn immediately on steroids without making sure she really is in a flare.
5. Doesn't want Caitlyn taking a proton pump inhibitor such as nexus or Prilosec because she has been on them for a long time and they have potential side effects such as bad for the bones. So she explored other alternatives.
6. Wanted to make sure this is a real flare with further testing. Starting with blood work, fecal calprotectin, imaging, and colonoscopy/ endoscopy if necessary.
Negatives
1. Waited over an hour plus in the waiting room
2. She was very rude to me and my husband basically did not want to hear anything we had to say only wanted to talk with Caitlyn (which I know is somewhat good because Cailtyn is growing up but she doesn't always remember everything she is still young)
3. She didn't want to listen to any suggestions we made. We asked about the EIM in the lungs and shortness of breathe and she brushed it off.
4. The LDN at first she immediately said she did not know if she could take care of Caitlyn because she knew nothing about LDN but when we said none of our others doctors did either and told her how well Caitlyn has done over the past two years she kind of reconsiderd on that.
5. She was very forgetful and we had to tell her things several times. It is a lot of information though maybe we were just telling her to fast. Caitlyn does have a pretty extensive history and case.
What do you all think? Should we give it a little time and give her a try or should we keep looking for a new provider? She is the only woman provider nearby though Caitlyn said she would see a male doctor if need be.
