Hello all!!

I hope everyone is as well as they can be!!

Just wanted to give an update on Gracie. We went for her GI consult yesterday. I wasn't too impressed with the Doctor...but I guess everyone can't have a bubbly personality! Hopefully he will grow on me! Gracie seemed ok with him.

Well...I was prepared to meet with him so he could "keep Grace on his radar". That is what her Rhuemy said the Ped GI wanted to do. That didn't happen...he asked us a few questions...went through her history for a few minutes..examined Grace..then excused himself for a minute. He comes back and hands me info on Crohn's. He said she has too many symptoms and doesn't want to wait. (She still has very few GI symtpoms)

Sooooo...she had more blood work (she is getting to be quite the pro) A small bowel follow through is scheduled for next week. Then a Colonoscopy and Endoscopy after that depending on results from those. I wasn't prepared for him to be so aggressive! I wonder if her symptoms are more significant than I thought??

I keep going back and forth...too worried...not worried enough. AAhhhhh!! I hope we aren't doing all these tests for nothing...but if something is going on it needs to be addressed.

I'll keep you updated!
Thanks for listening!!

Lisa

Oh, Lisa, the second (and third) guesses of a mom! Should I go left or should I go right? My daughter is now 31 with two babies of her own and I still ask, probe and worry "did I do/say the right thing?". I know it seems aggressive and perhaps obsessive but I wish a doc had told my parents that. I look back now and realize that I was showing signs as early as 10 (as far back as I can remember). My parents took me to the doctors and were told I had a nervous stomach. They never ignored anything and always believed me.
Sorry, a rambling note just to say that you are doing everything you can. Honestly, what does your gut tell you about your child? You know her best!
We will always be around to listen, hon. Just like you will be around when someone else needs a word.
Best of luck to you and your daughter,
Michele

Oops, sorry! I just popped on to the new posts...this is the parents with section. Lisa, sorry about that! I'm not a parent of an IBD kiddo (well, she has it but is undiagnosed) I'm the IBDer!

^^Michele^^It's you IBDers who know what our kids go through the best!!!

I agree with Michele about the tests. Rule everything out before assuming something like "nervous stomach"!!

(Hi Michele - This is not a Parent's only forum ... we appreciate your input sooo much!)

Lisa - I can understand it was surprising to see another doctor as concerned as you are. These are diagnostic tests (even though the scopes are somewhat invasive) ... I think the GI needs to do this in order to really keep Gracie on his radar. You did end up on a Crohn's forum ... so I am glad it will be properly tested for. Good luck!

Hey Lisa,

I agree with everyone else, the tests will always be useful regardless of the outcome, showing nothing is also a wealth of information on the way to a diagnosis as it can give clues as to where the docs may need to turn to next. Not to mention that diagnostics is often a process of elimination. Of course if something does show up then as you said it can then be addressed.

I wish Gracie all the luck in the world with her upcoming tests and I so hope it provides you with solid answers Lisa...:goodluck:
