Well, hadn't been on here in a while. Just thought I would update that we are now in the care of the Docs at the Vandy IBD clinic, and loving it there. I had been seriously frustrated with the local GI we had seen, and everytime I had asked him about EN, all he said was, "you can have him drink an ensure or a boost, if you want to supplement." But I knew from the forums that was NOT what people on here had told me about. As soon as we saw the Vandy team, the first thing the doc said, was that my son was VERY sick, and that doing NG feeding was not an option; it was necessary at this point to let the bowels heal and allow the Remicade to do its job. Also, as some of you told me, Remicade was not a short term sollution, but he will need to stay on it as long as it's working. Which at this point, I just want to get him well. So, the docs at Vandy said my son could do EN but still eat other foods, but not to push them. HOwever, every time he eats anything, he has Crohn's pain. So for now, we are not doing anything but the NG feeding of the Elecare. The remicade has not been as miraculous for us as it is for some, who immediately notice a difference the very next day. But I am hopeful it's working, and we are on a path to getting his gut healed and in complete remission. I just wanted to thank everyone who has commented to posts and been helpful; I really think your input gave me the courage with the other doc to keep pushing, and to recognize when we needed to find better care for our son. Thanks again, and hugs and support sent to all of you.
