Hi Guys,

10th of July here and it's 4 years to the day, not that anyone's counting :shifty-t:, that Roo had her op and diagnosis. Everything is still going fine and I hope and pray that it stays that way for many years to come. I worry that she is not doing all the right things for her health but what can I expect when she is 18 and living away at uni, it's hard but she will figure it out herself in her own time. I just hope she doesn't crash and burn, but I'll be there with her every step of the way and if I need to pick up the pieces I'll be there in a heartbeat.

On a lighter note, she has passed her first semester with flying colours, YAY Roo.

Thanks for listening and for all your support, it is invaluable to me.
(((HUGS))) Dusty.

Im going into my junior year at college and would have to say it is a trek with Crohns, So if she is passing it well she must be doing pretty good for herself!

I'm certain of her success because she has one hell of mum!! Yay for Roo and you too Dusty!!! Our chron-iversary is Dec 7, really a date that will live in infamy :). Thank you Dusty for all you've done for me. It is truly immeasurable!!

Congrats to Roo!!! Awesome.... my daughter finished her first year (second University to switch majors) and got a 4.0, I was doing the happy dance! She is 22 and no IBD (God willing) and she wants to be doctor, but she tries to eat right but she cheats and so will Roo, very hard on the younger ones. Also it is said it takes the age of 21-22 to have the brain fully develop. Dont worry Dusty, she will be fine, but like all parents we worry they will be ok. Hugs!

Hi Dusty - So glad to hear Roo is doing well, healthwise and at uni.

You are a good mom! And we love having you around the forum. Does she know that you are on here on her behalf??

Best wishes to her for continued health and good grades!

- Amy

Thank's Jett. I am waiting for that brain to fully develop! Will I worry a little less then, nah probably not. lol. Congrats to your daughter also, she is blitzing 'em, woohoo. You must be very proud and rightly so. I'm sure I read on a thread somewhere that your daughters birthday is 13th February, is that right? If so that's Roo's birthday as well.

Hey Dusty, no wonder your daughter is so smart , Aquarians are smart lol. Incidently I am an Aquarian too but ... I lacked the smart gene :kello:.

You must be proud, and I know you will worry anyways, it is part of a parents job!:ysmile:

Glad to hear Roo is doing well and successfully finished her first semester!! I actually was diagnosed in my sophmore year and despite being in the hospital for 3 weeks & sick on and off I still managed to graduate on time and currently I'm doing my MBA part-time! It feels so good to be able to accomplish all this while going through so many health issues so I wish Roo the most success in all her endeavors!! I'm sure with you being a super amazing mom it will definetely give her the support to go after all her dreams.

Will I worry a little less then, nah probably not. lol.....

I am 36 years old...have dealt with this disease for 24 of those years....and my mom STILL worries about me and reminds me to take my meds.... LOL!!!

Way to go, both of you! Truly is something to be proud of for each of you... Mum for loving and caring and being there for her.....daughter for putting up with Mum and STILL ace-ing her semester!! LOL!!!

Haha Jett, when I first read that I was thinking bugger, I tell everyone she gets her smarts from me, but I'm not an Aquarian! However you cleared that one up nicely. :ylol2: Thanks again for your kind words.

5 Years!

Well another year has passed and Sarah remains solidly in remission...5 years now and YES I'm still counting!

Some things have changed in the last 12 months, that I think have made a difference to her overall health and well being.

Firstly her diet, she is now vegan and consumes very little processed food. Drinks quite a bit of tea, not conventional black tea but more green tea and blends of of other varieties.

Secondly, she happened upon natural psyllium husks. She now has greater control over her chronic diarrhoea which means she can now eat when she out or attending lectures all day.

Thirdly, she has moved off campus. She loved it for the first year but then it lost it's appeal. She now lives on her own and has a cat. She appears so much more relaxed since the move so that has to be good!

She continues to do well at uni and her interest in politics seems to grow each passing day. She has a part time job as Welfare Officer at the university and is now also picking up some relief work as a research assistant at Parliament House.

Needless to say I hope this lasts a lifetime. Fingers, toes and everything else crossed!

Thanks guys for your endless support and love,
