I thought i'd give an update since i haven't for awhile.

I'll probably speak too soon but it's been 3 months since starting imuran and my daughter is feeling the best since diagnosis. She is symptom free and her inflammatory markers have gone down. There's been days where i forget she has crohn's . I wish they had put her on imuran sooner.
I finally have my daughter back...:ylol:

Yeehaw! Thanks for the fab update upsetmom. :mademyday:

I hope more than anything that this just keeps on keeping on!

So happy for you,

:(..I knew i'd speak too soon.

Today i got a call from the school telling me my daughter had collapsed , was sweaty and had lost her vision for a a few minutes.

I took her straight to the hospital where they did a few tests to rule out anything serious and sent us home. We didn't get an answer to why this had happened.

So now we are home and i'm worried that it might happen again.

Upsetmom

What was she doing before the faint?

We had some issues with fainting mainly prior to dx.

She had been on her feet for a while as they were cooking.... but at the time she was washing dishes.
About 3 weeks ago she was getting dizzy spells for a few days..I'm wondering could this be from the imuran.

What a rollercoaster ride! Could it be something as simple as low blood pressure, or low blood sugar? My 8 yr old son was not able to tolerate Imuran, but we knew within a couple weeks of his starting it. He had high fevers and elevated liver enzymes. He did feel dizzy too, but just while he was having a fever. Has your daughter been having regular bloodwork to monitor her liver enzymes while on Imuran?

If she was on her feet and they were cooking, maybe she just got overheated?

That happened with me a couple of times in High School... Really odd for me also, as I was very athletic, played sports, cheered, etc., but when "the stars came together" and I got over heated, BAM, I went down like a brick wall... My Mum always thought it was related to my menstrual cycle....

They checked her blood pressure, blood sugar and temperature and it was all good....Shes been having regular bloods and they've been good.
We see the GI this afternoon so i hope he has some explanation.

I just hope she was overheated.

My daughters nearly 16 and still hasn't got her period....we're waiting to see a specialist.
At the hospital yesterday the DR said it would be because her bone age is only 13....so thats why shes delayed.

We saw the GI today. He said maybe my daughter might have been dehydrated and that's why she fainted yesterday. But to be on the safe side he said if it happens again she'll be sent to a cardiologist.

Some waves on her ECG have always come back abnormal....but after a few DRs have had a look they come to some conclusion that its normal...These waves would be normal in someone younger but at her age they should have stabilized. I asked the DR yesterday and he said he wasn't concerned. But this is my biggest concern why haven't these waves stabilized.:( Could she have a heart problem.

Crohns wise everythings good. My daughter has trouble taking the pentasa so she asked if she could stop them...He said he'd rather her take them but its up to her...So she has decided not to take them..I hope this is the right decision.

I'm too scared to say this but shes good. There's been no more dizziness or fainting. I just hope this was a one off.

The only good thing to come out of this is now her school knows she has a medical condition and her teachers will keep a close eye on her.

I won't say it too loudly but...:mademyday:

So happy for you and hoping with all my might that it was indeed a one off!
