I had one and it's really not that bad as tests go. They numb your throat so it's not painful, just uncomfortable. You gag quite a bit. Are you ok seeing a dentist? If so it's kind of than that in terms of having something foreign put into your mouth and someone leaning over you, etc.
When I had it they told me they have general aneasthetic and other sedatives on standby, so if you panic or can't stand it, they will be able to help you.
There was a nurse whose only job was to stand by me and talk to me and, since you can't speak during the scope, monitor me for any signs of distress.
Having biopsies taken feels a bit weird, little jabs inside your tummy.
Afterwards you feel fine right away. They can sometimes give you some of the results there and then.
And mine was partly done by a med student while the actual doctor looked on!
