I keep getting these upper respiratory infections when I am on prednisone. Really stinks. Wondering if anyone else is having this issue?

Hey theend2, I had a pretty sever upper respiratory infection about 2 months ago, and it started right at the end of having been on prednisone for a short period - I never even considered they were related... definitely worth looking into.

Good health and best of luck.

yes while i was on prednisone i had it... some time during the first month or so... my head hurt, my sinuses were messed up and even my ear hurt... the doctor said it was an upper respiratory infection and gave me antibiotic.

Yes I have had several of these during this time being on prednisone. I guess it makes sense seeing the pred lowers the immune system. I was just wondering why the upper respiratory. Weird isn't it. I guess I am not alone on this one either. So all these side effects I have seems I am not going crazy after all its all just part of this disease called Crohns. 2 1/2 years just trying to put it all together and come to terms with things. Thanks for your reply.

Dealing with Crohn's for 16+ years, and I still get new/different symptoms... it definitely keeps you guessing, that's for sure! One thing I have discovered since finding this site, is that no matter what you are experiencing, the odds are, there are others that have gone through it (if not the exact same, then at least very close to it). I couldn't even begin to guess why the upper respiratory is prone to infection though.

Good health and best of luck.

Thanks Dustin. 2 1/2 years for me to your 16. I got a ways to go. Seems I have got a lot of side effects already. I just want things to go back to the way they were. Sick of it.

We all wish we could go back to before we got sick. Life would be so much different! Although, we have to play with the cards we're dealt, and I'm going all in!

Good health and best of luck.
