Hi, I'm undiagnosed as yet but have had a colonoscopy which found inflammatory polyps (though no other signs of Crohn's) and am currently having a capsule endoscopy to visualise the small intestine. One of my doctors is determined that I have IBS but others believe Crohn's is the most likely possibility (due to inflammatory polyps, very high fecal calprotectin and my symptoms).
Whatever is wrong with me is flaring right now (since August 24th) and I've been having problems with vomiting and upper abdominal pain after eating and have a low grade fever almost constantly, tachychardia and just about maintaining a normal blood pressure. After doing an abdominal exam my doctor said I should go onto a full liquid/semi-solid diet for 2-3 days. Over the weekend I just ate soup, smoothies and milkshakes/yoghurt. After 2 days of that my fever finally broke. I was desperate for some food by lunchtime today (was nil by mouth since yesterday evening because of the capsule endoscopy) and had some toast. However it made all the sores in my mouth bleed and my fever has now hit 100 again.
Does this sound like my body/inflammation levels just aren't ready for food yet? I'm really struggling- I'm type 1 diabetic so have been trained to eat fairly regularly. I'm also just absolutely horrible to be around and an awful parent when I'm not fuelled properly. I feel like I need a LOT more protein than the meagre amount I was getting on liquids.... Does anyone have any ideas or resources about how to maintain a semi-solid diet over a longer period of time (I'm thinking it might be worth doing for a couple of weeks just to let my small intestine have some personal space, yk?). I'm in the UK if that makes any difference to specific products. No idea where to go to buy protein shakes and stuff like that (and too ill to have much cognitive function at the moment).
