Just a little vent...

I feel sick nearly after every time I eat. I don't even know why I bother eating anymore. It sucks to have lunch, or whatever, and then get hit with cramping/etc half an hour later. I hate this about Crohn's...not knowing what's going to upset your system or when it could happen. Some of it's probably my diet; I need to be more Crohn's-friendly to my system but that is so difficult to do all of the time. It's difficult finding things on menus or not being able to go to certain places because of they don't offer anything I can eat and be comfortable after.

I had my first insensitive comment made the other day at work, where when I told my co-worker about my diagnosis, she said, "oh, that's basically where you shit a lot, right?" And I was just like "...."

I know she didn't mean it cruelly, but that's not what Crohn's is just about and it embarrasses me that these are the first things people think? I don't know how to handle comments like those just yet, I guess.

I'm already on Imuran, almost off Prednisone (yay!), and I start Remicade next week. I'm really anxious about the Remicade treatments, and how I'll feel after/the side effects, but I just want to feel better. Some of the pains I thought were gone are coming back (the ulcer-like pains) and it worries me that my body is reacting poorly to being weaned off prednisone. The last thing I want is to be on prednisone longer!

Anyway, this was really just a long-ish vent.. sometimes it's just too overwhelming to deal with this everyday.

ladyrose,
Welcome to the forum. Sorry to hear that you have been dealing with some insensitive people and that you are feeling so yucky. I know how difficult it can be trying to eat when you know that you might feel worse after eating and I know that trying to eat out can be nearly impossible too.
May you soon be feeling much better. :ysmile:

OH lady rose, I so understand what you're feeling. I am also on Imuran, and weaning off Pred. I try and try to eat Crohn's friendly, but I am sooooo hungry. I know the pred might be part of that. But the last time I came off it, all symptoms came back with a vengeance. Now Dr. says time to make a choice between Remicade and surgery. I just ate a hamburger with only mustard on it. But I know I will pay for this. However, I must say, it did taste very good :) I am definitely struggling to get rid of the overwhelmed feeling and trying to find a 'live with it every day' attitude.

Thank you both!

Prednisone definitely makes it difficult; it increases my appetite, too. JudithC, I hope everything works out for you. It's hard when you really want something and know you'll pay for it later! I am also worried my symptoms will come back with a vengeance after I'm off pred; I'm doing Remicade, soon, though, so I hope that will make it better. Best of luck :)
