Vent about my doctor.

I'm not referring to my bowel doc, but about my General doctor who knows next to nothing about crohn's disease. He's so negligent at times, I am recovering from a flare which was treated by my GI and is better, but I've been so fatigued and get exhausted so easily since. I went into my GP today to get my regular B12 injection and mentioned the fatigue to him. He said it's from the prednisone but I told him I'm no longer on prednisone and he said "good" and continued writing in a new chart and that was it. He didn't even have my old file before him with my cortisol results. When I asked if it was okay, he sounded hesitant so I'm assuming it may be okay or maybe he doesn't know? He didn't ask me any further questions or check me or send me for blood work My complaints went on deaf ears as they usually do. I was in his office about 3 minutes. I have been wanting to change this doctor for a long time but because of a shortage of doctors willing to see new patients in this end, I've been stalling and getting so frustrated at this doctor's lack of care. This is my vent. Thanx for reading.

Hospitals are plenty of doctors. I think you should just look for a new one.
BTW where do you live?

Not that easy to find a good doctor here, most of them aren't taking new patients. Hospital ER is one way of getting looked at, but we aren't supposed to be there if it isn't emergency.

Is the health system like "Les invasions barbares", the movie?

Such a great movie BTW.

I have the same problem here in British Columbia. And my Dr situation sucks too. My Dr. Basically quit general practice so I was given to another dr who is barely around and doesn't take appointments. I saw him on walk in the other day for a follow-up after my hospital stay and basically got nowhere. It's frustrating but at least I have a good GI specialist that I can lean on and actually has the time for me.

Thanks, never seen the movie, but will take your word on it.

Panda, hopefully you will find yourself a good general doctor as well.
Lately I feel my GP doctor isn't treating me at all. He is not making time for his patients, every appointment that I do have with him is 3-5 min and what I do tell him falls on deaf ears. He either says it's nothing, or it's okay. It's always like that. What worries me is he never takes any tests to back up what he says. How does he know for sure. Anyone can be a doctor saying that, even you or I? Yes I do have a good GI specialist, which helps me when I am going through my crohn's episodes, but it would be nice to have a General Doctor to work together along side of him.
