I got told Monday I have Crohn's after my colonoscopy and now I've been put on steroids and a low residue diet, I'm so confused because for years of going to the doctors with stomach problems they have told me to eat lots of fibre now there telling me not to, I ha e to wait a month to speak to the nurse and I'm fed up, tired and I've got sores on the side of my mouth and I don't know what to bloody eat or do about any of this, I don't even understand what I have .

When you have Crohn's disease (which is inflammation of you digestive tract ie the disease can occur anywhere from mouth to anus) food that are high in fiber can be difficult for your inflamed digestive tract to handle. Due to this the docs have you maintain in a low residue diet until the meds you are taking can work to quell the inflammation.

Usually pred is given for a short period to quell the inflammation while a maintenance med is started. The maintenance med can build up to there levels to keep your inflammation under control while you are on and tapering the pred.

Hello, welcome to the forum. It is so hard to know what to eat and there are so many different views about what helps and what doesn't. There is so much waiting involved with this illness, too - a month to see the nurse, a month to get a stool test and results, two months to get a colonoscopy etc etc and at first it really does get you down. At least you've got a diagnosis now, it's a struggle even to get this far, so it's progress of sorts. (That's what I'm trying to tell myself anyhow, having just got a Crohns diagnosis in the past couple of weeks.)
