I need some ideas for this to, I get a B12 shot and Take a 1000mg pill it helps for first like week but then after I feel crappy again. but if you havent tried that yet I suggest it.. it might work for you =]

Where have your three resections removed bowel from?

If they are ileum or terminal ileum are you already taking some form of supplement, like B12 injections, Iron or Folic Acid?

Interestingly enough I was listening to the radio last night and they had a doctor and psychologist talking about anxiety and depression and how it impacts those with CD. Anyway they said one of the issues is fatigue and that Vitamin C and D have proven to be helpful in alleviating this.

Dusty, I had all three resection in the same general area. I had about 18 inches from the ileum including the ileocecal valve, and the cecum part of my ascending colon. My last thread was about me having zero drive/energy and possibly being depressed. I think i shall take Breezygirl and your advice. THanks!!

So you aren't on any supplements? If not, go to your doctor and have bloods drawn for B12, Folate and Iron stores and go from there.

I think vitamin D with calcium is a useful supplement, many CD sufferers have impaired uptake of calcium and Vit D assists this process, plus Vit D is a useful supplement in it's own right. Also an anti-inflammatory like krill or fish oil is helpful.

There are most likely many others that may be beneficial to you in the general sense, but I'm not that up on the supplement side of things so it might be an idea to do a search. I know the topic of supplements does come up quite regularly.

I had Blood my last blood work done last month and my B-12 levels were low, but my doc said it wasn't too bad. He suggested I start getting B-12 shots as well. I haven't been taking anything and I just turned 26 so maybe im just getting old..lol I have half of the energy I had at 23.. I will try your suggestions.. THanks

From my experience, when docs say something is a little low, it is low. Get yourself to the health food store or vitamin shoppe and pick up a bottle of chewable Super B Complex. See if that helps. The B12 shots did not do much for me but the chewable B Complex does. Make sure you are getting enough liquids.

Where are in relation to New Orleans? My daughter lives in Slidell.

I also suffer with very low energy. My doctor checked me for diabetes and thyroid problems. I take a multivitamin, omega 3 fish oils and vit D every day. I took iron supplements for a while, as my stores were low, but now they are restored I don't need the tablets. I also make sure I drink at least 6 glasses of water a day (might not sound much, but is a huge improvement on the 0 glasses I used to drink!). I tried b12, but found it was only good for a temporary effect, so I use it if I have a big day ahead. The fluoxetine (anti depressant) has made the most difference for me. I didn't particularly think I was depressed, but I have gone from being completely unable to function in the afternoons without having a 1 or 2 hour nap, to getting a bit sleepy in the afternoons, but I'm able to work through it or just have a quick 15-30 minute nap. And as a bonus I am far less moody and stressed than I used to be!
