Hi all. So, my son came home early from school on Monday, stomach ache. He does not usually get stomach aches from his Crohns. Monday afternoon, he threw up, then again Monday night. Kept him home Tuesday to make sure he was ok, he was fine. Went to school wednesday and Thursday. No problems other than he has hardly eaten since Monday. I figured maybe he had a virus and just hasn't gotten his appetite back. He just left for school and he threw up on the way, just a little tho....I did make him drink a boost this morning before leaving and he kept saying how full he was....then the barf!

What's this 'full feeling'.... He's said he's had it since getting sick on Monday which is why he hasn't wanted to eat anything. He's also not pooping as much as usual.

Virus and still recovering? Constipation? Or something else? I'm calling dr today...but would appreciate your thoughts.

All of the above. Could be anything.

There is a stomach thing going around here. Last week T got diarrhea, which she never gets, watch and wait and hers eventually went away.

T is usually constipated and acts the way you are describing.

A call to the doc doesn't hurt anyone and always better safe than sorry.

I hope it is a virus!

Where we are there are lots of tummy bugs just now. I had it on and off for 7 days and I could only eat a few mouthfuls of food at a time. Hope it goes away

Too soon to tell, I think, but it does remind me of when DS had a stricture. One bite and he was full. Lots of throwing up because there was no place for the food to go. I'm not saying that's what this is, but if it gets worse or lasts longer it might be something to consider.

Hope it's just a bug!

There is a virus that one day you feel good and the next you don't. It goes on for weeks. Watch for new symptoms. If his stomach acid is up, he could be having some inflammation and that could make him feel sick and vomit. Also, you mentioned that he hasn't had as many bm's. That could be because he isn't eating much or things could be backing up or he could be developing other colon issues. It's hard to tell. Keep us posted. I hope he feels better soon.

Thanks. His appetite is slowly coming back after a week. But today he had a BM and there was a bunch of bright red blood along with it. He's never had this before, so it was alarming! I called GI and he said not to worry, unless it happens again or if he has other symptoms with it, pain, fever, etc.....but I'm worried anyway. Ugh. It tells me everything is not ok on the inside and I really want it to just be ok already.

Big hugs
Fwiw DS has "blips" two days of blood then nada nothing again for a few months etc....

Hope your LO has just a blip

Hi DustyKat, thanks for asking. His appetite is back and he feels good! No more blood in toilet since this one time....hopefully it doesn't come back, it was very alarming. Seems that it was a virus after all. The blood in stool still worries me but dr didn't seem to think we need to change anything.

Thanks for the update Worried mama. :ghug:

So good to hear that your lad is feeling better again! :) And I surely hope it stays that way.

I hear you about the blood hun. With it being a one off and fresh blood perhaps to was caused by a little tear/fissure or something like that. Fingers crossed!

Dusty. xxx
