waiting for dx--need help interpreting

We'll I've been through the mill. Lost 70+ pounds over the last 1.5 years although I attributed it to eating a lot less and more exercise, since food seems to aggravate the symptoms. It's a long story, but at some point a GI doc ordered the ASCA panel for Crohn's and I showed positivity for both IGA and IGG, which apparently does not happen w/o some sort of inflammatory process, probably Crohn's. So I had a colonoscopy (normal, including the terminal ileum). She thinks small bowel Crohn's...

Here's the tricky part:

But then the small bowel x-ray showed that "the mucosal pattern of the mesenteric small bowel appears abnormal, particularly involving the proximal portion where the mucosal folds appear distorted" as well as "transient borderline dilatation of small bowel segments."

Not sure what to make of this. Look familiar to anyone?

Best regards,
PMcB

Hi Paul, welcome to the forum. As to what to make of what you've posted, bear in mind that we aren't doctors. just a bunch of IBD sufferers who share their stories and try to help one another out. Between the inflammatory markers and the small bowel x-ray, and the doctor thinkin its small bowel/intestines crohns, I'd have to say my best guess of the professional double speak in the report says you do indeed have crohns disease. Factor in symptoms and weight loss, all would indicate your doctors guess is correct. If I had to take a wild assed guess, the dostortion N dilatation probably means a restriction, prolapse, ... something along those lines. It may mean that use of a pillcam, if available in your area, MAY not be in the cards... only your doctor can advise you on that. Pill cam 'could' give the best view of what exactly is going on in your GI tract... but if there is some restriction, there's a chance it could get stuck. Doc may want to look at meds as a means of improving your ileum.. maybe then allowing a go on the pill cam. Your best bet at getting the correct 'interpretation/translation' of those medical terms is to sit down N ask your GI.
