I know some folks on here are on probiotics just came across this video thought it might help for those who want a cheaper alternative to the pills. Basically explains how to make Water Kefir, no dairy involved.

should be fine, i drink a liter or two a day.

Start really slow (a teaspoon to see if there is a reaction) and work up to whatever you feel like.

Thank you. I know this is a different topic but want to ask you here: I know you eat white rice. What about oats? I've been experimenting with raw rolled oats for two days. Seems fine but I eat them raw and I'm a little worried about phytic acid content. The rolled oats are very easy to carry to anywhere. It's a very good carb/ energy source. Oats do also have resistant starch.

personally i do not, when i started adding carbs back in i tried oats on a few occasions and consistently noticed loose stools so i do not eat them, i have not tried them for more than two years and things may have changed but i do not miss them.
If it works for you then it is fine but if things slowly change after adding a food in then it can be hard to work out what caused it.....

I tried Kefir made with milk for a couple of weeks. Didn't seem to help much and the taste takes a bit of getting used to. The process is supposed to use up all the lactose so if your problem with dairy is lactose it should be fine.

In contrast, avenin shows a strong crossreactivity with anti-gliadin serum.

Avenin is a protein of oat. There are very conflicting studies regarding the safety of avenin protein for people sensitive or allergic to gluten. I'm worrying if there are any crossreactivity. I know maybe I shouldn't eat oats but I have so few options left...

Not sure what your particular issues are but there are plenty of paleo carbs (and rice crackers, rice noodles, rice).
I'm over the whole VLC thing (although it works for many), but carbs can be as low as 50g a day without any stress (apparently).....

It's a big topic but i totally agree with the concept of becoming 'fat-adapted',
When i was on VLC i could skip meals without even noticing because i didn't have blood sugar highs and lows......

Yea, sorry for hijacking the thread. Unfortunately, other than rice, rice products aren't available here in this country... Thanks for reminding me VLC and high fat diet, From now on, I'm going to try adding more ghee or olive oil to my foods. Making a potato-carrot-mint soup right now. Adding more ghee. The thing is coconut oil. It is perfect for low carb, high fat diet and coconut oil is not available here too :/ .
