Hi, everyone, I've been doing some reading and came across this so-called "Watercure" Diet. Has anyone heard of it and, if so, does it work? It's supposed to be good for digestive issues.

Do you have any more info on this? From what I have read it means that you drink a litre to 1.5ltrs of water in the morning to cleanse your body.

I cant imagine it causing any problems (although too much water can kill), but after drinking 2ltrs of moviprep a and 1 ltr of water, it can be very uncomfortable (even before going to the toilet)

Proper hydration is very important, after all we are mainly comprised of water ourselves. I fail however to see what the "cure" or treatment is here. Water cleans out toxins and keeps us hydrated but I don't see it doing anything for illness. Many with illness make sure to get their fluids daily.

That's what I was thinking as well...I've begun drinking a lot more water since being diagnosed. Not only is it good for you, it makes you feel more energized as well. Also: less headaches. lol.

Definitely. Ill drink more too ;) but like Rygon said it can become dangerous if we drink too much. 8 glasses or a little more should be perfect.

I drink about 4-5 16 oz water bottles/day. It seems to be OK with me. I find I'm going to the restroom a bit more, but as long as I'm not going because of my UC I'm fine ;)

I read in that link that we should drink the equivalent of half of our body weight in ounces per day. For instance, I weight about 110 lbs, so I should drink about 55 ounces of water per day. I already go over that lol.

I've always drank water as I dont not like tea or coffee, nor do I like fizzy drinks (never liked them as a child either). Some times I drink juice but mainly plain water.

It says water should be rid of all impurities. To me, this means demineralised water which is very dangerous to drink. It will kill you! Water is a great solvent (likes to dissolve things into it). If you drink pure water it will take minerals and such out of the body! Filtered water will remove 99.9% of impurities (not all) and this is fine to drink.

I'm not sure why would would add salt to the water, as if you are dehydrated you need more than salt (potassium, magnesium and calcium come to mind), and bad dehydration needs proper hydration drinks, not just water.

Personally I think drinking water is necessary, with most people not drinking enough, and that you should check the urine colour to the wee chart to make sure you are ok (especially as it is very easy to get dehydrated with D), but as a cure I just cannot see how that would work.

He said that the salt to use would be unrefined sea salt, which apparently has minerals and vitamins that regular table salt has been stripped of. But...sea salt is still...salty. I would imagine drinking that much salt water would dehydrate you and make you really thirsty.

I do sometimes add a little salt to my water due to chronic dehydration. We mainly need the salts but yes it's not sufficient because we also need potassium and other minerals. I suppose sea salt and coconut water would do the trick.

I've also been wondering about coconut water; is this something you drink all day or just maybe once a day in lieu of, say, diet 7up (of which i'm particularly fond)? any side effects...like making diarrhea worse, causing diarrhea?

I wouldn't drink it all day but I have had several glasses of coconut water without issue. They even say it was used as a natural saline during war when hospitals lacked supplies. Who knows if that's true but it's supposed to be very hydrating.

I tried coconut water...didn't like it lol any ways to make the taste more appetizing? I want to drink it but after tasting it...not going near the stuff until it tastes like ambrosia.
