So, my worst everyday nightmare is gases and bloating, and I'm talking about this type of trapped wind that stays there (in the upper part of my GI) and won't move no matter what. It results into a severe nausea and bloating that leaves me not wanting to eat/drink anything.

I have been losing weight, and I'm already thin, and I have tried different ways to shake those gases off with no luck.

Could anyone suggest maybe some method that he/she uses to relieve such trapped gas? Thanks in advance.

Is your stomach hard? Is the pain coming in waves?

Have you had an obstruction before?

I personally would play it safe and call the doctor.

If you can't drink you need to be checked out. It doesn't take long to get dehydrated.

The pain is because of the constant belching, and it's centered in the upper part of my stomach. And no, I have never had an obstruction before.

I have called my doctor many different times, and he said that it's "normal" and I should just avoid dairy products (which I don't consume any of) and also prescribed me different meds for gases that don't seem to be of much help.

The only thing I can think of is walking.

But if you cannot drink fluids you will need to go to the hospital to be checked out.
Dehydration is something you need to watch out for.

I have been trying that, and it does help relieve some of the gases, but it's almost like there's a pump in there that keeps generating more.

I do drink and eat, but in very low amounts, and that's why I keep losing weight.

zHassanz maybe could try to massage the area to get things going. Drink allot of water. You can also try to eat smaller amount through out the day and to eat slowly and do not eat before bed. I would suggest that you see your GI it could be allot of things hernia, pancreas etc. Please keep us updated and keep hydrated

I do have found a technique for massage that helps, but it's all about massaging the lower abdomen. As this part where gases are mostly stuck in, is somewhat under my rib cage, massaging that area is not really easy since it's being blocked by my rib cage bones.

I do eat smaller amounts, in more frequent meals, and I'll stick with drinking more water.

I have done an upper endoscopy and nope I don't have a hiatal hernia, and I have had all my abdomen checked (including pancreas) everything seemed normal.

I am so sorry i would suggest to see your Gi asap to get checked out. Please keep us updated. Does anyone know what else this could be?

My husband had the exact same problem with gas when he was flaring. None of the meds helped it. I don't really know a solution to it except letting it out. He would be having dinner and all of a sudden his upper abdomen would ache because gas would just swirl around inside and not want to move. We tried having buttermilk with asafoetida (its an indian remedy). This did help but its not a cure. You can give it a try if you want. I hope you feel better.

I don't think this will be available in our local markets, but I'll give it a shot and see if it's there. Thanks a lot for mentioning it.

And yeah, I have tried Gas X and lots of other gas meds, and they don't seem to help with this certain gas entrapping. Sounds like I have the same exact problem as aarthi's husband.

Peppermint is meant to be good for that kind of thing. Have you tried a Peppermint tea or even some kind of chewy sweets? I has helped me in the past

I wish I could drink that, but I have GERD symptoms and peppermint worsens them. :/

I take gas ex and if that doesn't work I take activated charcoal tabs. They are amazing. Walking helps even though it's the opposite if what you want to do (I know I always want to curl up with a hot pad and wait for the cramping pain to pass) walking plus yoga stretching helps move it along. Honestly the trapped wind pain when I'm flaring is the worst part. Do try charcoal tabs and wash down with peppermint or sleepy time tea. Feel better

I have tried those before, and they didn't help. :/

I might increase the dosage and try again, it's VERY annoying, and I can't eat anything because of all that trapped gas.

I also wonder if enema would help for this

As I stated above the gases are trapped almost under my rib cage, I'm not sure what is exactly there, but I don't think it's my colon.

Also, I have tried enemas before, and they were of no help. :/

Im so sorry. I think you should talk to GI and let him see whats going on there , could it not be from your gerd

Are you on medication for Crohn's? In my husband's case, none of the medicines helped for gas. The GI said all the symptoms will disappear only after the inflammation starts to disappear. For that, the medication has to be started which is what his aim was, regardless of symptoms. Once my husband started Remicade, all symptoms really disappeared including gas.

This sounds really weird, but sometimes it helps me get rid of very painful trapped gas. Kneel on the floor and then put your head on the floor with your butt in the air. Stay there for a while, then sit up, and go back to the position again. It helps to work the bubbles out.

Also bicycling your legs like you do to babies sometimes.

This totally works for me! Get on hand and knees and get the butt up in the air as high as possible. Works like a charm. Sometimes it takes several minutes.

I am on medication, yeah, and I have been on meds for around a month now with almost no progress.

I have seen my GI recently and he prescribed me this med that contains thyme, anise, and peppermint oils and it really helped me with this trapped gas. It is still there, but at least now most of it moves leaving a small quantity behind that doesn't bother me as much.

I have read about that before, and I tried it. It doesn't work all the time, especially when the gases are trapped in my upper abdomen (which what mostly annoys the hell out of me). I'll trying that cycling move though, thanks for mentioning it.
