Have any of you tried this or heard of this??
I am going to purchase this belt and this is how they have to wear the bag to use it :(
My nurse has recommended I turn my bag side ways she said the pressure when your bag starts to fill pulls on your stoma and can cause hernias BUT if its side ways wont it just all hang out at the stoma area and LEAK :(

I have only heard negative things about the stealth belt here on the forum. You may just want to wear a regular belt. This is what I have been doing and I do not have any problems with hernias so far. The stealth belt looks good on paper but I believe in practicality that it does not work very well.

:( that sucks I have been doing a lot of research and thought I finally found the one I wanted ugh.... it gets GREAT reviews everywhere else hmmm.....
I have tried other belts and I tried the pouches you put in the underwear the pouch still pulls to much on me and I always feel like I am holding it up with one hand :(

I guess I have to go back to researching again gees its never ending and known of the belts are cheap so its not like you can try them and just put them in the closet if they dont work. The ones that holster has are so uncomfortable.

Thanks

I very nearly bought one. When I first got my stoma I saw the website and they are made out to lbe brilliant but like Jeff D says, it looks great on paper but the practicality is an issue. I have an Ileostomy so wearing my bag sideways would be a nightmare... it would just all hang around the stoma site and like you say cause leaks. Not sure if they are any better for a Colostomy due to the difference in output but they are too expensive imo to just try and end up not using it.

I was told to try here http://www.stomawear.uk.com/mens-stoma-waistbands/ and I got one of the waistbands, not very pricey at all and does a brilliant job. I wear it quite often and it hides and flattens the bag and holds it all quite firm.

I have a ileostomy as well... I looked at that site the belts were just as high $90.00 :( I did notice now that stealths are making a bag you can wear up right so I may get them to make me that one??

yeh the big support belts are dearer but is there any particular reason you need such an expensive waist support? those belts look good with the stoma guard if you are into any sort of contact sport or anything, but otherwise I personally think the waistbands, which only cost me £9.00 are very good. do the same kind of job for a mere fraction of the price.

Like I said I very nearly bought one, but I'm glad I didn't because I feel it would have been a massive waste of money for me. But everybody's different.

The waistband doesn't have an opening for the bag but it really doesn't block the flow of the stoma or anything, but It would also be possible to cut a hole in it to fit around your bag if that would be more comfortable.

People may feel very differently to me, but after having looked at the stealth belt I can't help but feel it is very overpriced for what it is, and sell's simply because of a lot of the insecurities that come with having a stoma. Of course I haven't used one so I'll happily be proven wrong by someone who has.

I agree they are over priced... here is the problem I have with my stoma I cant stand the pulling feeling I have stuff in my back chronically I even have trouble staying dehydrated and gaining weight :( so no matter how often I empty I feel a pulling so I want a belt that holds it UP .... I tried buying pouches but I still feel the pulling feeling ( may be because I am small and I feel everything as it is on my tummy being a 25 inch waist and my stoma is so close to my navel a lot of the times I feel it pulling my navel :( I am looking for some comfort not to make me look better or hide it persay.
The stealth is also water proof we have a 30X40 built in pool so I can swim with it on thats a PLUS.... and it looks so much more comfortable then the other belts I see? There is one by pheonix buy it to wants you to wear your bag sideways :(

My friend recommended that to me (also has a stoma). I've heard good things BUTTTT the thought of having to empty from the side makes me just think how messy that could get and to have it wrapped around my side seems uncomfertable but I've never tried it.

Yes I WONT buy the side one.... they make a vertical one now :) so I am getting that one!! Apparently it was requested by people so they started making them YAY.... lol...

I looked at it and now I want it..lol I wonder if you can see it through tank tops.

I dont know? I know you can order a special color what ever you want and its water proof which is one reason I want it to swim and not have my bag dragging in the pool lol... It sounds like its form fitting and if you watch the one video the guy has it on with his bathing suit and it looks pretty good so probably would look fine?....

Is there a link to the video? I didnt see it.

How do you order that one? I would personally wait until someone on here got one before ordering myself as I do not have the kind of money to do that sort of thing but if it works well then I may have to get the neoprene one so I can start swimming again.
