I'm trying to gain weight. After my resection last fall, I was gaining 2lbs a week, eating 3000 calories a day at times with very little physical activity. Since chemo, I can't quite get myself to eat 3000 calories a day, but I am getting at least 2000+ a day. I had almost gained back the weight I lost on chemo going into last November but a flareup made me drop 7lbs going into December. I've gained back 4 again since before Christmas which is just over a pound a week. In addition to 3 meals and a bedtime snack, I'll have a Carnation breakfast shake when I get into work and try for another shake mid-evening. I have the occasional Skandishake as well (570 calories with 2% milk) but they aren't cheap....$12 for a 4-pack. Anyone have any other weight gain tips? high calorie shake ideas easy on the gut?

Get married and have kids! All kidding aside.

I have gained about 10-15lbs lately and I contribute it to a change of work. I recently got promoted and funny enough have less work and less worry. Plus I have a cafeteria below me so I find that I am always hungry and always eating.

Not much help am I!

Peanut butter!

I find it easier to put weight on with food hanging around on the counters... you know, snacky things that you can just throw in quickly. I also think eating yogurt once a day has helped put weight on.

Prednisone......<<<<<That's a joke. Maybe make your own shake/ smoothies...You can add nutritional supplements in powder form if needed. You can also use soy/ lactose free milk products.

hmm well when I need to gain wait and still am working at it. I would eat then eat again and eat double portions at every meal and within a month I put on 30 pounds.

I found that eating too much at a meal to compensate has thrown my BM to an irregular pattern. Nothing one day, three or four bm's the next. I am trying to make sure I don't overdo it at any one meal and take the time to sitdown and eat more often.

I bet it is challenging to be back at work and not slide into the old patterns we had before.

I here what your saying kenny but I usually grazed threw out the day so it kind of worked for me. I can already see me self sliding into the bad habits of not eating while at work so I try and bring snacks and a boost and lots of water while I'm there.

yea the water is my biggest problem. My home care nurse spent some time convincing me that 1L of coffee does not = 1L of water :ylol2:
