So I went to the Doctor's office yesterday to get my weekly B12 injection. I have been through hell this past year after being diagnosed with UC last christmas, and having 6 hospital visits in a year. I've been severly anemic for the better part of two years, and after blood and iron transfusions, I'm now getting regular B12 injections each week for a few months to gain health before surgery.
I've lost nearly 35kgs and I'm about as svelt as I've ever been. While I was once 90kgs and a size 18, I'm now a skinny size 12. My doctor's clinic bless them, have recently got a new computer data system, and last week after my B12 injections they asked for my weight and height etc... I thought nothing of it and let them update their records.
Well, this week, after my B12 injection, the nurse asks me to wait and comes back with a handful of brochures, one of which is a weight gain pill and a 'Healthy Eating' brochure, completely inappropriate for my now dietary needs. She says discreetly: 'Our computer tells us you might need this'. I was so surprised my mouth just gaped open. After a few seconds clarity of thought I said: 'I've been in hospital for a quarter of the year and I've lost nearly 40kgs to ill health' to which she said nothing. I wanted to say 'Does your computer tell you that?' :devil:
