I have been noticing something very strange during my last couple of flare-ups, and I wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this. I am having problems with my nose. During the last couple of flare-ups, the inside of my nose has become sore, sensitive, and feels as though there are sores inside of it. Weird! There are times when I am drinking something that it feels as though the liquid could come out of my nose. Even more weird! It doesn't, but I get strange sensations from time to time. I suffer from nausea off and on, but I haven't thrown-up. During all the times that I have thrown-up, it has never come out of my nose. Can CD affect the nose? Has anyone experienced anything like this?

Andi- Yes, I have had the sore nose. I don't know if it is Crohn's or if it is a by product of malnutrition. This disease is totally bizarre. I put vitamin E oil on a q-tip and lubricated the sore area. It helped a little.

I'm not diagnosed so I can't say for sure, but I've had sinus/nasal problems for about 20 years now. It started when I was 11 and broke my nose and it was never set properly. Ever since then, I've had lots of sinus issues, not being able to breathe out of my left nostril (due to the break I have a deviated septum so my left nostril is partially blocked). And I did notice that after I got sick with this gut illness, I've had a lot more headaches and I started getting migraines for the first time ever. My headaches can only be cured by taking Tylenol Sinus, regular Tylenol does nothing. It doesn't matter what causes my headaches, whether it's stress or lack of sleep or barometric pressure, they always seem to turn into sinus headaches. So yeah, I would think they could be connected in some way.

my father believes that this illness is cause by some type of bacterium or fungus that lives in the body. more specifically the gut and sinus cavaity. i know i had c.diff at one point, and that probably started all this mess, but i know that when i was on vaco and steroids i was out of flareup almost instantly. this time around ive tried everything and am now on remicade and still not completly out of flareup. the docs wont issue me vanco since i did not test positive for c.diff, but i need to find a way to rid this infection from my body so i can go into remission again

Hi Andi,

I have that, along with sore eyes and often an inflammed left eye.
It's strange 'cos I had the sore, dry, bleeding nose for ages before my first episode and my eyes were dreadful for months before too. I had no idea then how they could be symptomatic of something like UC

Unfortunately the nose remains sore, dry and bleeding all the time now and my eyes are frequently sore but not as bad as they were. If I take oral pred the nose heals and my eyes feel better but almost the instant I stop the pred my nose hurts again. I have tried vaseline, E45, various creams and even lip salve none of which have worked

I must admit that when it's been really sore and irritating me so badly that I put a little of the proctosedyl ointment I have up there and that seems to help
I hope you feel better soon :)

yeah last year into this year before i went on any kind of medication i kept getting sores in my nose and didnt no why, and sores would pop up all of a sudden in my mouth.. from reading on here i figured out it was from chrons so i wasnt really scared about it anymore

Thank you for the replies. I mentioned this with my doctor, and she didn't think there was any relationship with IBD. Of course, we those with the disease, know better. I only get the nose soreness and sores when I flare-up.
