weird finding during EGD
Howdy all!
First thanks for the replies to my other recent thread. My son made it through the fast much better than I'd expected. I guess I'm of the school 'expect the worst and be pleasantly surprised when it's not!'.
We're not going to have the biopsy results for a couple weeks, but here's the weird thing. My son had multiple doses of laxatives during his 'clean out'. His 'output' was almost clear with some bits and pieces in it. Pretty much what we were told to expect. Except the doc was in there for 90 minutes (instead of the promised hour) because she found a lot of poop (she said it was in his upper intestine). So she had to wash things out in order to get the biospy. What doesn't make sense is why this poop was still there if it he had so much laxative and clear diet!!
The other thing is that she said it looked like my son had eaten something like plastic, gauze, or a balloon!! This is a huge surprise as he's never been into putting things into his mouth or eating things he shouldn't.
The doc now wants him on Benefiber and Miralax if necessary until that stuff is passed. She says we'll know because we'll see the foreign objects!
But in hindsight I'm now worried because I had noticed his stools slowing down in the last week (his procedure was yesterday). I'm worried he might get an obstruction if he was already slowing down.
Has anyone else dealt with partial obstructions or blockages or anything similar?
