So I have been home from the hospital for 8 days and it's been almost 2 weeks since my resection, and my sleep patterns still aren't right.. I go to bed at around 3 o'clock every day then wake up around eleven, then take naps throught the day. Is anybody expirencing the same thing I am? it's driving me and my family crazy!:yrolleyes:

I used to have generally bad sleeping patterns and counsellor told me to fix them as so;

Decide what time you want to get up by in the morning. Set your alarm to this time and actually get up at this time no matter how bad your night was.

Aim to go to sleep about 8 hours before the time you set your alarm for. Don't drink any caffeinated drinks, eat large meals etc a few hours before bed. A milky drink of warm bath before bed will help relax you. Do not nap during the day!

The first few days of this are hard as getting up at the set time with not much sleep due to not being able to sleep at the time you go to bed, and not napping are hard. The idea is that eventually you'll be tired enough to go to sleep at a decent time! It worked for me anyway. Good luck!

Michelle has some good tips there. After my sugery I was still on big doses of pred...sleep...what sleep!!??? Are you any meds at all?

Also, I didnt sleep after the hernia surgery because they put me on tramadol. Well, that did the same thing to me, awake all hours!

Thanks guys really appreciate the tips. As of right now I am only on prontonix and prednisone( I'm getting weaned off now) but on Wednesday I am going to my GI to start all of my medication. I'm not on any now because my surgeon wanted to give my GI tract a break after my resection. But I am on morphine and percocet as needed.

PREVIOUS MEDS: bentyl, flagyl, tramadol, pentasa, solu-cortef, prononix, morphine injections, Percocet, zofran, nystatin, prednisone
