Hello to all,

My name is Skip, I'm 56, and ended up with Crohn's way back in 74'...I've had mulitple surgeries, and at one point had a Colostomy bag for two years...I was lucky enough to get re-connected back in 76'. Just last year, February 06', I had major surgery; ileocolic resection with ileoascending colon anastomosis....another words a portion of the ileum was removed along with the cecum, where the large intestine starts....the surgeon removed all the Crohn's I had, but unfortunately it can come back.....
So to say the least, I have good days and bad, which I'm sure you all do...

That pretty much sums it up in a nutshell...everyday I feel different in some form or another. I find it hard to feel normal at times, and that frustrates the heck out of me....

Hello Skip.

Sorry to hear you have not had much stability with your Crohn's. What does your doctor say about all of this? Does he have any medications to try out, or have you been though all of them already?

I hope you can get some ideas from the forum. It is tough trying to control this disease, especially since everyone seems to react differently to various treatments.

Best Regards

D Bergy

Hi Skip,

Welcome to the forum. In what ways do you feel your Crohn's everyday? There may be some changes you can make that will relieve the symptoms you are currently facing somewhat or totally.

Hope to see you around the forum soon!

With all that I've been thru, I'm just on Lomotil, which slows down diarrhea which I have everyday. Sometimes my stool will start off firm, then it will be looser as the day progresses..the morning is the most active and is usually the worst time for me. By afternoon, things seem to settle and I can function awhole lot better.

Different foods react differently of course, and sometimes it just gets too hard to keep tract of what is ok, and what isn't. I thought rice would help me out because of the bulk, but sometimes it doesn't. I eat alot of pasta, chicken, and some vegies, and trying to stay away from red meat, but that can be difficult...love the cheeseburgers, and pasta sauce....oh well..

Hi Skip,

Good to see you posting and welcome!

Yes food can be hit or miss depending on what kind of a mood our guts are in some days. You have been through the mill and it can be hard to maintain some level of normality. Did you have a period of remission then between 76 and 06? I hope so!

Keep posting.
