Yesterday I saw a new doctor. My GI wanted me to see him as this new doc coordinates research trials for Crohn's medication. It was 40 miles away, so there and back was about 4 gallons of gas (at $3.70/gallon) and an hour each way. This doc was so unhelpful.

He started out by describing the drug trial to me. Then he suggested I get another colonoscopy. I refused, because I have had 2 colonoscopies in less than 10 months. I just don't think I can do another prep right now, plus, is it really necessary??? At that point, he changed, and began saying that my symptoms are all due to (previously undiagnosed) IBS. When I asked him why he said because my pain sometimes gets better with a bowel movement. Really. I've had Crohn's for over 24 years and my pain has always been temporarily relieved with a BM. So is this doc saying that I've really only had IBS symptoms and the Crohn's is just something in addition? Oh yeah, and what about the CT scan last month that showed a lot of inflammation? Is that also just something in addition.

Thankfully, this isn't my regular doc. But I was hoping for something, as my pain has slowly been getting worse and worse. And it took almost 3 hours in total, including the nurse who couldn't get my blood pressure reading and had to call in a supervisor who took 4 tries to get it. By then, she said it was 150/110 (which is WAY above what it normally is). I highly doubt they know how to read BP with all the trouble they had. It should be simple if you know how to do it.

How annoying! I'm annoyed for you. Sounds like a teaching hospital, the kind where you're there to teach them! D:<

Crabby, it wasn't a teaching hospital, it was a doctor's office. I've usually had great luck with teaching hospitals.
