I've had CD for years but never had any mouth sores. My friend has large mouth sores, occasionally the size of dimes, and persistent stomach problems, but insists she doesn't have Crohn's. I'm just curious because I have no idea what they're supposed to look like or how often they crop up as an extra intestinal manifestation.

Hi elihogan,

First the sores were painful to the extent I could not eat.

For your friend we need to separate the cold sore and cheek sores from the situation. What I had was tongue and sores on the roof and back of my throat. Key is they were canker sores. For me the colour was white. Last was they lasted for two plus weeks and only went down with the Crohn's Meds.

Also does She have other symptoms? Key is Mouth sores does not indicate Crohn's by them selves. See them as helping with the diagnosis. Increases the probability of Crohn's if She has been diagnosed with IBS and the sores are more then from biting the lip, cheek or tongue.
