Hello all,

I am on new medicine and it is not super helpful yet. My dr said to avoid foods that bother me... I have been trying to figure out what really has been causing more pain for me than others, but there are no clear main connections between eating things and pain...example:not all or just dairy... Seems like random things.

I was curious to see what you have noticed as your personal trigger items cause I need to feel better.😕

Thanks!

Onions, anything spicy, anything with too much fibre especially insoluble fibre, think peas and corn, green asparagus etc.... I'm lactose intolerant so also avoid all dairy.

My goto foods are a peanut butter sandwich and fish, salmon and tuna mainly, broth and pureed soups made with root veg such as carrots and parsnips. I can usually tolerate pasta and rice too so sushi is a good lunch option for me.

HTH

Popcorn, even when I am feeling decent is a no go. Same with Broccoli and Cauliflower. If I am okay then I can do cooked carrots and small amounts of celery. Also can't do spicy or acidic food or drink (cranberry juice, orange, apple, etc)

Soluble fibre is okay if I'm feeling well in small amounts (oatmeal)
Insoluble is almost always bad.

Thank you! It is just hard thing to figure out exactly what is to blame when I eat a meal and hurt after... :)

It took me a while too. I think I was on steroids and abx for so long after diagnosis that there was no way to tell. Now that things have settled, I have sudden D after fruits and veggies sometimes. Usually apples. Sometimes strawberries. And it can be like 2-3 slices of Apple or one berry. I'm sure I'll discover more.

Minced beef - don't know why as I can eat other red meat - and like Nancy - Apples. The trigger is not so much the Crohn's but the Bile Acid Malabsorption caused by the Crohn's surgery.
