What did side effects did you have?

I went mental on the stuff. I am talking off to the er so i wouldn't Off myself. I don't ever ever ever want to feel that way again. It was scary!

Luckily and thankfully I have never experienced any of the mental effects of Prednisone. But many people have and do. Some people can't tolerate it, some people ask their doctors for additional drugs such as an antidepressant or anti-anxiety medication. It's a very scary and very real side effect and I'm starting to feel like doctors/the FDA should be doing more to monitor patients who are taking it (especially for the first time).

I'm sorry you experienced those side effects. I hope you find an okay alternative.

The side effects for me were horrid. Anxiety, insomnia, feeling as if I had downed 20-30 cups of coffee in one sitting, edgy, irritable - it's a miracle that my BF hadn't smothered me in my sleep to be honest. I'm tapering right now and starting to feel like I did before I started taking this damn drug. I see my GI doc tomorrow and I honestly hope he doesn't up the dose back up along with (hopefully) starting Imuran. If he does recommend taking the Predinsone again, I will be asking for some supplemental drug to off-set the side effects (Ativan or something).

Fat and crazy, but aside from that it did what it was supposed to do. Pred is never fun, but it can be a life saver! Doc put me on Ativan for a while. It helped a lot.

When I was on IV steroids I didn't sleep for 2 nights (literally, I managed 15 minutes total!) and threatened to kill the woman in the bed opposite me. Luckily I was too out of it on morphine to follow through with it. But I agree there should be more warnings, I was terrified because I didn't know what was happening to me. Luckily I didn't have much side effects once I went on oral pred.

Been taking this drug for the last two months and have had nothing but trouble, makes me anxious, nervous, tired, and up and down with my moods. also taking azathioprine 100mg. So im unsure which drug is making me feel worse or if its the two together. i have now got flu symptoms and not even painkillers can sort out the headaches that come with it.

Side effect

Acne everywhere. I was at like 70 mg for a while. Many individual times. Face arms back butt probably other places.

Weight gain. It really does build body mass. I ate a whole chicken once (yeah it was cooked but as ravenous as I always was who knows) I went from 130 or so normal weight to 185. Moon face, it does not look like me. I never lost back to my previous weight even with surgeries for crohns.

Mood changes, no more prednisone for me ever.

Night sweats like I'd been running for an hour.

But...it reduced symptoms. I felt great after a while. Now I have neurapathy which may have been caused by the steroid.

I was able to walk in snow barefoot without discomfort for a while, always hot, in contrast to now when I'm always cold.

I'm STARVING! All the freaking time I can;t stop eating. I get anxious and tired all at once, I sweat and I get headaches. After all that and I've stepped down and compltly off it the next day I run a low fever. :S
