I've been doing everything my doctor recommended, was feeling better and now I look 8 mos. pregnant, am bloated, my stomach sounds like a cow mooing, is hurting and I'm severely constipated. Can anyone recommend a laxative for crohnies? I know most of you would love not to have diarrhea, but this can be miserable too:stinks:

Hello gigirl
Sorry you are having problems.
Us crohnies must be very careful when using laxatives, and preferably under guidance from the GI.
Mine has allowed lactulose ., but as events happened I did not need it in the long run.
It may be best for you to call your doctor for advice before resorting to laxatives.
A high soluble fibre like metamucil, or psyllium husks may be helpful, as can having oatbran for breakfast daily. It depends on what your system can tolerate. Also drink lots of water each day.
It may be important to establish first why the constipation is occurring., have to be careful that you are not obstructing.
Feel better soon
Hugs and best wishes

After a recent hospital admission I was prescribed Fybogel. But you should really ask your doctors as your constipation could be a result of a blockage. Mine is because of a narrowing making it harder for my poo to get through

I went into the hospital yesterday with abdominal pain. They did a CT scan. The good news was no strictures or abscesses. Have a patial obstruction of feces and all the Pentasa capsules I've been taking!! No wonder it wasn't helping! Was up all night doing the clean out procedure. Pain is almost all gone, yeah! May have a colonoscopy today or tomorrow. Thanks for listening!!
