Quick question. Andrew is on week 4 of his mercaptopurine and so far so good (holding all fingers and toes) and is now on 75mg. I saw the GI today and he said that Andrew will stay on that for 3 months before having the therapeutic levels checked. Does that sound a reasonable dose? I am sure the paediatrician was going to increase to 100mg next week and then leave it.
Have to say the GI seemed rather scatter-brained today. I had assumed (after asking 3 weeks ago) that he had brought Andrew's biopsy report, etc with so I could have a look, but he had no idea why I was there, and certainly had no idea I had asked to see the report :ybatty:.
Had to laugh at the dietician as well. I waited 30 mins before asking where she was only for her to say no one had told her I was waiting :voodoo:. She was supposed to give me advice on how to increase Andrew's vitamin D through diet. This is what she came up with - some cereals have vitamin D added, one of the supermarkets have a raspberry flavour supplement and mostly we need the sunshine :eek2:. Really! Apparently if we go on a summer holiday that will help :ylol2:

Ah well, you may have to add in a few extra family holidays... just for Andrew's health and wellbeing! ;)

FWIW, Stephen gets most of his vitamin D from his daily supplements (700 IU from his formula, 300 from a calcium+D supplement and 1000 from a liquid Vit D supplement). I don't think there are tons of foods that provide vitamin D but here's a link to some food sources.
