what is your hair color?

Since someone brought up the possibility of having red hair and Crohn's being determined by the same gene (or something like that) I thought we would see what everyone's hair color is.

I have dark brown hair.

I'm in the middle of light and dark brown hair. It's not uncommon for me to have a blond or red hair though. But for the most part I'm right in the middle.

I voted dark brown, though I'm more of a medium brown. I get these great copper highlights in the summer.
Never been colored, but as soon as I get 10 or more grays I sure as heck will.

Mine's red, but has dulled down a little since I was younger. The hair of my beard is still pretty red though.

Dunno exactly how it works, I haven't studied the subject, just talked to someone who knew, but I think red hair is a recessive gene, much like blue eyes.

born blonde. It went dark brown over the years. Recently though, I decided to try a mohawk and died it bright red. I rock :D

born light blond with age and kids it is now more like dark blond but bright blond highlights in summer. I am not sure I believe this myth either. A friend of mine with CD has black hair and another one has blonde also.

I find this very interesting-never thought about a link between red hair and Crohns. I am a natural redhead, but my son who is the one who suffers from Crohns has dark brown hair. However, when he grows a beard there is a large amount of red in it-the exact same shade as my haircolor!

Red.

I'm the one who posted the original thread, and I'm not claiming that there IS any connection, just thought it was interesting, and wondered if it had any bearing on risk.

I will say though, that red hair is found in something like 4% of the worlds population, so it's interesting that it's running a close second here.

kind of supports the idea, doesn't it?

it's certainly interesting. Once I get things all settled with my dx, I'm going to mention it to my doc, see what he knows about it.

I have dark brown hair with a round spot of redhead on either side of my head. I don't know how that works lol

this was a hard one, i CHOSE light brown but that was wrong i believe...

i was born with blonde hair like white blonde then it went strawberry blonde then by 3ed grade I waz a dark bright red, not orange, like red red... then now it is ... well it is getting darker brown but still has alot of red in it and somehow i have no clue why but in the front right by my face it has some blonde... seriously i will never dye my hair just because it is so unique. it truely has a mind of its own, being thick and naturally curly doesn't help in the morning tho i tell ya, and i do need to trim it a bit, its been gettin to long lately for me to handle. Too bad there was no "natually mixed up and confused" choise on there :(

Mine is dark blonde with quite a bit of gray), but the gray looks like highlights. Lucky me - I don't have to pay for highlights!!

My brother and I are both natural redheads -- his being more auburn, mine being more towards an orangish/redish. He has crohns & uc -- I'm still waiting to find out. interesting

Dark brown, usually below my shoulder length, untill last friday.
Went to get a trim, the bugger cut it up shorter than it's been for 20 years.....:voodoo: :depressed:

No Grey catagory?

Some of us are older than twenty. Some of us are waaay older than twenty.

It was light Brown to blond at one time.

really blonde when i was little, got darker as i got older. now its lightish brown with blondey parts.
i need to go get a haircut by the way...

This is kind of interesting. There may be a Celtic connection?

I am reddish/brownish/blondish. definately have the red tendency or Ginga as people in New Zealand like to tease.

I ticked red though am not typically ccarrot red by any means.

I reckon there could definately be a link. There is some stuff I read about Vitamin D deficiency being related and us pasty-skinned folk may cover up in the sun more? Or not absorb it as well. And redheads tend to be pale skinned.

 If I was pasty-skinned, I would be a lot tanner than I am now.

Quite dark brown, it looks super dark (almost black) in most pictures but in person it's not as dark as it looks in pics...I have green eyes and medium skin, not too light, not too dark, I always used to tan quite easily, never freckled from tanning or burned easily....maybe it's the Hungarian blood in me.

:)

I got med - dark brown hair

one thing I've been thinkin about
of all the people I've heard of having this disease they are all white westerners
could it be somethin to do with life style an upbringinging?

Dunno, but I do know Canada has the highest incidence of Crohns disease. My whole family has a form of IBD and IBS.

I have naturally dark brown hair, but I've been dying it red since I was 18. My avatar picture is one of the only ones with my natural colour (had to dye it back natural for a wedding a few years ago).

I agree with Pen...there are so many people here in Canada with Crohn's. Get on a cure already!!!! Shesh!

Nyx we have a CCFC chapter in Thunder bay going to the first meeting in two years (feeling better at the moment) there are 2 big fundraisers coming up. M&M's bbq and Heel n wheel. They are working on a cure, but CCFC is not for profit and not much awareness.... check out you local chapter in CCFC.ca even for an hour or grab a burger with some friends, it is May 8th this year.

When I had hair...it was blond

Liar, babies are usually born bald. You just stayed that way, and now you come up with a story because "skin" wasn't an option.

Dark, dark brown, like Shantel, December and PB4 have, it almost looks black in pics and all, but with proper lighting in person, you can see the brown in it. I guess it's called "brown-black" or some such something for hair color classification.

Very blonde in the young years - turned to light brown by 20s - now slowly turning lighter again in the 40s (oh crap, I guess that gray!). Getting a bit thin too....ever hear this?....

If a man is bald toward the front of his head it indicates he is a great thinker. If a man is bald toward the back of his head it indicates he is a great lover. If a man is bald all over his head it indicates he “thinks” he’s a great lover.

True, LOL.

BWS is right, sometimes you can have dark hair and have red pigment very strong, stand under a bright light. All people have red pigments in their hair. Blond has the less.
