What made you decide to have surgery for your Crohns Disease? I am scheduled to have surgery next week and I would love to hear from anyone who has previously had resection surgery. Did you achieve remission?
What can I expect after surgery?

I was real healthy for a few years after my first stricture surgery. It was way better than before the surgery.

I guess it is a quality of life decision at times, but often a necessity. My last surgery pretty much saved my life. The alternative to the surgery was not very appealing to me.

I am not 100 percent yet, but am improving slowly.

After surgery, you do not feel great but it is not too bad. Recovery is pretty quick, especially if you are young. It really is not that big a deal, but I am kind of used to it by now.

Wishing you a fast recovery.

In short, the quality of my life stunk and hadn't improved in many months. Don't need to go into the details, but my doctor asked me to rate the quality of my life on a scale of 0-10, with zero being the level I was at when first hospitalized and 10 being how I was before being diagnosed. I rated myself about a 3.5. My doctor then asked me at what level I would need to be happy, and I said at 7 minimum. That'a a bid difference and it started the conversation to have surgery. But, shortly after my fever returned and I was hospitalized so the decision kind of made itself. Although my history is a little different, the process we used to move forward was pretty good.
