I was wondering if any one had to switch to a new Gi and what was helpful for you to bring to the first visit? I want to be prepared so I can get as many ? answers as possible.

Hey, you might have already done this, but I had to get my previous Med records from my previous doctor. Other than that, I brought a list of my current meds, list of current symptoms, and had written down questions to ask. I wrote them down so I wouldn't forget. I hate leaving a doctor's office thinking, darn I forgot to ask about that! Hope this helps.:thumleft:

Hi Tahoe Mom,
I just switched G.I doctors, I brought in a few prints of previous Colonoscopys, and some medical records that I had copies of, my latest blood test. Also I brought in my medications and a list of all medications that I am allergic to. Also a list of medications that I have tried and had adverse reactions to, and what the reaction was.
Also as mentioned above a list of questions, written in such away that I leave a little space under the question for the answer. I bring a pen with me too.
I bring a photo I.D and Insurance information. I am sure they will want the name and address of you G.P and Pharmacy.
I wish you all the best,

Hi,
Thank you for the feed back. I faxed all of medical records so the doctor had time to look them over before I had my appointment. I have a list of all the symptoms that I am currently having. I also jotted down questions that I have.

Hi live green,
Thank you for taking ur time to tell me how you prepared. It is so hard having to start all over again. I think that it was meant to be, I was not getting any where with my old GI. I have wrighten down all of my symptoms that I have on a daily bases and questions that I have. I faxed all of my medical records to them prior to my visit so they could go through all of it before my apt. I hope that I have everything.....I am having to travel 99 miles. Thank you again.

Start a food journal too - if you are keeping a record of your symptoms and daily health, this could help you understand what modifications you should be making to your diet.

Know the exact dosages of medications you take on a regular basis. If you have the dates of when you started and stopped each medication, that is helpful as well.
