What to eat DURING Capsule/Pill Endocscopy

Hi,

I'm 1 hour into my capsule endoscopy and the Dr says I can eat something after another 3 hours. Their only advice is to eat plain cookies. But my diet is restricted as I'm on GAPS. (i live in Singapore, they don't really understand diet restrictions here)

What did you eat during your capsule Endoscopy? I know it has to be light coloured, cannot be dairy and should be somewhat solid/dry.

So far I have some Almond butter to try, but the Dr has to come back to as to whether this is acceptable. Otherwise I won't be able to eat for 8 hours, and I'm advised to keep walking around.

Hi LouShen and welcome to the forum! You should be given a paper with specific instructions on what's ok to eat and when. Some say a light lunch is ok then after a certain amount of time you can eat normal. I'm gonna tag Cat-a-Tonic because I know they've had one done. I only had the dummy pill done that dissolves because my insurance decided they didn't want to pay for the pill cam. :/ Hope the test goes well and keep us posted.

Thanks Crabby. I'm a little bit late to this thread but I can tell you what my experience was (I had the pill cam about 2 years ago so hopefully I am remembering this right). First of all, yes, they should have given you specific instructions on what and when you can eat & drink. When I had my pill cam, I had to drink a big glass of water with the capsule itself. Then I wasn't allowed to have anything until 2 hours later, when I was allowed another glass of water. Another 2 hours later, I was allowed to eat lunch. They didn't say anything specific about color or type of food, just that I shouldn't eat very much. I think I had half of a tuna sandwich or something like that. And after lunch, I was allowed to eat and drink normally again. So it wasn't too bad. LouShen, I hope your pill cam went well!
