what to eat?

I have had stomach pains for a very long time and it came to a head around Easter. It took 14 painful weeks of probing using what I thought was medievil techniques to diagnose Crohns. My god, where is technology, you wouldn't do what they did to me to a dog !I can't find any website that agrees as to what you should and shouldn't eat. Food was my passion and now its my enemy. How ironic. Please if you can give any advise I would be eternally gratefull

Hi Tracey, sorry to hear about your diagnosis and yea, the tests are the pits! Unfortunately there is no set diet for Crohns. People seem to have their own set of trigger foods.
Having said that, you could try a Low Residue diet to start with. If this doesn't give you relief from symptoms, it's a case of paring your diet back to the bare minimum and reintroducing foods gradually to see what you can and can't tolerate. Have a look to on the Diet and Fitness subforum for more ideas.
Where is your Crohns located and what meds are you on?

Hi Tracey! For me, it seems to be anything that is high in fiber. I have some thickened areas in my intestines, which causes me a lot of cramping. These seem to be the worst offenders for me: corn, raw vegetables, thick skinned fruits (I can peel them), whole grain products, pork, and anything really greasy.
