Hi, I'm new. I was just diagnosed with Crohn's and am having the worst flare up I've ever had. I'm hoping to get a mj card this weekend. I live in California and the place I called said they can fit me in for an evaluation this weekend.
I am hoping to get edibles to help heal my gut and releive some of my symptoms. Are the people at the dispensary able to help determine which edibles are best for gut healing/Crohns?
I'm also concerned about the effects of the mm. I have 2 kids, ages 1 and 3, and do most of the care for them (stay at home mom). Are there edibles that do not affect your ability to function day to day?
Any brands or type that you recommend?
First let me say that I completely feel your pain and that you will be in my prayers and hope that you get a handle on this flareup. If you're not experienced with cannabis/getting high I would be very cautious on high THC levels because it is a powerful plant and is going to affect you more extreme in the beginning stages of consuming cannabis. Considering that you said you're a stay-at-home mom and I'm sure you don't want to get too stoned and not be able to complete daily task. I myself can perform very well under high doses of cannabis but I have been smoking now for well over 10 years. (Vaping is the only method I use now). I would guess that the people in the dispensary are not going to know exactly what to give you for healing your gut. I'm sure they can point you in the right directions and breakdown the difference between Indica and Sativa. CBD enrich strains seem to have the highest anti-inflammatory properties which would probably help you the most at controlling the information. THC will also help you now with the cramping and nausea. I would suggest to you to get two different stains. One strand being very high in CBD and low in THC which will not get you high. Then get another strain and it doesn't necessarily have to be high in THC but it needs to have more THC than CBD and that will help with the relief of pain nausea and cramping. The strain that you need to get with the higher THC levels should be a indica based strain which will give you more of a body high and that helps the most with the physical symptoms of the flareup. As far as the CBD strain I don't believe it matters when it comes to Sativa or Indica...
Here's a fun fact for you…
indica = in da couch lol. (Meaning that you will be on the couch and will have no motivation to get up) Indica strains will tend to make most people lazy and is not the best choose for day time use.
Benefits of Indica:
1. Relieves body pain
2. Relaxes muscles
3. Relieves spasms, reduces seizures
4. Relieves headaches and migraines
5. Relieves anxiety or stress
Benefits of Sativa:
1. Feelings of well-being and at-ease
2. Up-lifting and cerebral thoughts
3. Stimulates and energizes
4. Increases focus and creativity
5. Fights depression
Also welcome to a life long med that will help you physically and spiritually. God bless!
Also if you get too high don't freak out because it will wear off in a couple of hours =) start with small amounts and be cautious with the high THC percent.
