What to expect when stopping Entocort

I have been taking Entocort for almost 3 months. Started at 3 pills a day, now down to 1 a day. I have also been taking Pentasa for about 6 months (this didn't seem to help things at all). With the entocort my symptoms have improved significantly (I would say that I feel 97% better). But my GI wants to see how I do without the meds, so I stop taking them as of Sunday.

I have seen a few posts about stopping entocort but I was wondering anyone can tell me what to expect. Should I expect a relapse? If I do at what point would you go back to the GI?

Luckily (or not) I'm on vacation next week so if it's bad I won't have to worry about leaving a meeting to run to the bathroom. But we are camping so the bathroom may not be too close - hopefully close enough!

Hi, Ang.
I was on Entocort for a long time (August 08 - March 09) and was weaned off. I didn't have a relapse, but then again, I've never been in remission either.
I'm sorry I can't offer more, but I can tell you that my symptoms didn't get worse.
Good luck, and keep us posted!!

So have you two had good experiences with entocort? I'm curious, because my doc is considering trying me with Entocort before a more heavy duty drug like methotrexate if the Cimz doesn't do enough on its own after the next couple shots.

I didn't have a good OR bad experience. I guess I had a non-experience, if you will. It didn't seem to make any difference whatsoever. But I didn't get any worse!

I've had a good experience with Entocort. No real side effects - although I did have some headaches and dizziness to start. Not sure if it was due to the Entocort though.

My symptoms have almost gone away at this point. It's the "almost" that has me concerned about whether there will be a relapse.

Hi Ang! I was Entocort from March till about the 3rd week in June. I had great results with it, other than some weight gain. My GI told me to stop taking it about 4 weeks ago now. I was doing great, until my period hit, now it seems my symptoms are back. I see him in August, so I will see what he wants to do then. :)
