I'm 3 weeks after the surgery (removed 1 foot, terminal ileum, IC valve, etc...) for crohn's. All inflamed tissue in theory is gone. I am to see my GI in a week, to discuss what drug to go back on as a maintainance drug. I had been on Humira for some time, prior to the surgery. What do you think I should try?

I don't want to go back on humira for maintenance. I would like to try the least-potent treatment (thus, presumably, least side effects or unknown longterm effects...). I'm hoping I can the inflammation won't come back. They will scope again in 6 monhts anyway to see.

So what - should I seek something like Pentasa? Your comments are welcome! I can't remember what the low-potency drugs are its been so long, maybe there is something new.

Same resection as me. I went from healthy to a total bowel blockage in 3 months so my GI insisted I go on Aza(Imuran). I'm on 200 mg and have been on it for 6 months or so now. I'm still doing great!

Hey SF I think the protocal is 6mp (mercaptopurine or Imuran,) to start then Humira type med or both together,my surgery was in July 2010 started 6mp in Oct,you just got it cut out don't mess around now and let it come back because it will,I'm sure your GI is going to put you on one of them,my 2 cents take'em.
Good Luck
Steve
