I know everyone is different but I'm curious to know what diets work for others. What about exercise? Thanks in advance!

Hi Marah, welcome to the forum. :) Your questions are pretty broad so I'm wondering if there's something specific you are wanting to know about diet/exercise? Generally speaking, I do well with the low-residue diet when I'm flaring, and when I'm in remission I can do most types of exercise just fine, with a preference towards weight lifting and low-impact cardio. I realize that's not much help so that's why I'm asking you for more specifics about what you're looking for. Like you said, we're all different, so you most likely will just need to do some trial & error as far as what you can eat and what exercises work for you (and there may be multiple different answers there depending on if you're flaring, in remission, etc). Are you in a flare right now? What diets & exercises have you tried so far?

I am newly diagnosed so I've been flaring for 7 years besides the 9 months I was pregnant. So I'm just kind of want to get a feel on what everyone else is doing so i can try and things out to see what works and what doesn't. I was on Pentasa but my doc took me off of it yesterday because I didn't really see a difference from it and I was having bad belly pain from it. I'm on 40mg of prednisone and just started Imuran yesterday which is 100mg. I've been on the prednisone for a month now. So I'm trying to get in the groove of things. Somedays I feel like I can just breathe and it triggers the diarrhea. I'm scared to exercise and it's hard because of the extreme fatigue I get from the Crohns.

If you're feeling that poorly, I wouldn't recommend that you do much strenuous exercise. Something like gentle yoga or pilates would probably be fine though. There's a thread here with some information about yoga:

As for diet, you might want to try an elimination diet to see if you can nail down what your trigger foods might be (if you have any). Here's more info on that:

Good luck, I hope that helps. I hope the imuran kicks in soon too so that you can feel better - 7 years is a long time to be flaring!
