What's this bump?

So I've been feeling like things are inflamed in my rectum for a while now. It was especially bothersome during my recent Vancomycin enemas for c diff. I was doing them for 2 weeks and both the nurses (I was hospitalized for some of the time) and myself had trouble getting all of the liquid to go in which we both thought might be from inflammation. Well tonight I noticed I have a large bump by the anus. I've had hemmroids befor but this seems kind of different...almost like its something coming out from the anus itself. It's honestly kind of hard to tell and I'm embarrassed to say I can't really see "down there" too well to check because I have a big pregnant belly in the way that's not very bendable Any ideas of what it could be? It's maybe a little painful but not super bad or anything. I haven't noticed any fluid or blood...or itching. Just this large bump. I haven't been straining to go or had any hard stool. So kinda confused.

You might want to have that looked at, I had a fistula, but thought it was a boil on my bottom... So I tried to treat it my self with boil ease... After about a month, and it not going anywhere, I decided it was time to head to the er,

When I went to the ER thinking I could just have it lanced and be on my way, I found out it was a fistula, which is the outward end of a stricture, I had rectal stenosis, which prevented the GI DR from doing a colonoscopy, so they did a ct scan and three days later I was in the or getting a colostomy bag...

Be safe and have your GI Dr have a look at it, it could be nothing, but any type of lump like that on your bottom is nothing to mess around with.

Could be a boil. Just guessing here. Can you have someone else look at it?

Well I went ahead and grabbed a mirror to try to get a better look and the bump is Definetly originating from inside the anus and prolapsing/protruding outside rather than just being outside of the anus if that makes sense? I have my GI follow up from my hospital stay on Tuesday. Over the past few days (since completing the antibiotics for C Diff) my symptoms have gotten worse again...and now this

Something coming out of your anus and not a hemmie? At least call the GI. That should be checked out right away. Does it hurt? How big is it?

It could be a Hemmie just if it is I've never had one this bad before. From what I understand hemmroids are common during pregnancy so I'm guessing that's the most likely cause...a prolapsed hemmroid? It's about the size of a dime I'd guess...hurts a little but not overly bothersome.

but one the size of a dime? It could be a boil, or a fistula, the reason I suggested you get it looked at is because you are pregnant and it is better to deal with whatever it is now. Your baby needs those nutrients and so do you..
and if that lump is a fistula, then what is happening is your body is not absorbing the nutrients it needs.

But obviously never had one so don't know much about them. What concerns me most is its something inside that's coming out. I've felt so swollen "down there" for a while now so now having something come out frightens me. Even more so because I'm pregnant. The doctors did a visual exam while I was in the hospital and it wasn't there then. I literally just noticed it yesterday. It almost is uncomfortable to sit today. I tried to take a bath earlier and that was impossible :-/ y is this disease have to be so embarrassing!!! Like I said I got to the GI Tuesday so I'll mention it then if it's not better.

My fistulas when they started were just small hard bumps, but then they got large and turned purplish/red until they started draining. They are quite painful when they are swollen, especially when they are new. I have several skin tags as well and they are quite different than fistulas.

I did some searching online and yes it sounds like hemmies can get grape sized! Wow, I had no idea. Have you tried prep h or tucks or anything? Hopefully it gets better quick but I am glad you have a doc apt.

Fistulas start from the inside and go outward. the part on the inside can develop into a stricture, which if allowed to get large enough will cause rectal stenosis.

If you have a stricture inside the rectum, then a colonoscopy may not be able to be done because the scope is not able to go into the colon area..

You hang in there!! I hope when you see the GI DR on Tuesday it turns out not to be a fistula,

Being you are pregnant, that is what had me worried..

I will keep you in my thoughts and please let us know what the GI DR says Tues.

Hemies will prolapse, usually with a bowel movement. Does the bump go back up inside you between BM's?
