When does Remission happen?

Just like clockwork, about 2 weeks ago, just like last time, my Crohns symptoms started again in full force.

As some of you know, I am on Remicade and I'm on a 8 week schedule, but for the past 2 cycles, at the 6 week mark, on the dot I swear, the pain and D return.

Last time, I actually saw my GI doc on the day of my infusion and I questioned her about it and she said it may be a matter of upping the dosage a bit. She didn't seem too keen on shorting the cycle back down to 6 weeks or 7 even...

But anyways my point...as my husband so eloquently put it...

"I thought that stuff was supposed to put you in remission."

Which made me realize that "yes, isn't it?"

I've been taking rem since June I think, I'd have to look it up but it's nearly been 6 months I believe.

It kinda sucks because I feel ok for about 4 weeks out of a 8 week cycle.

Week 1- Just starting to feel better. Weeks 2-6 Doing OK. Weeks -7 and 8 - CRAP CRAP CRAP.

My husband is tolerant but I can tell he gets frustrated with me feeling bad all the time and HELL I get frustrated with it as well. It's like waking up with the FLU every freaking damn day! Now I'm not typically a vomiter, but I swear to God I could OWN STOCK in Big Red chewing gum, as cinnamon flavor is the only thing that calms my stomach. For 2 dang weeks....chomping gum and running to the bathroom with D.

And lets not even mention the "sore" "I did 200 sit ups" feeling in my gut...all the time.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh and did I mention tired? ALL THE TIME? I want to exercise and lose a few pounds, (thats right I'm the only fat chick with Crohns...) and I can't even do that because of the fatigue!

:ybatty: :ybatty: :ybatty: :ybatty:

I'd go and talk to your GI again. If you think somethings wrong, then there probably is since you know your body and symptoms better than anyone else. Maybe shes right and she just has to up the dosage, but something should be done because no one likes feeling like crap. Feel better :)

Answer to your question= Not soon enough!
I've been in my flare for 2 years now. When DOES remission happen???

Thats the trouble with crohn's it is so touch and go, one minute you feel like your on the mend and things are getting better... then you wake up the next day and feel like you've been run over by a truck! I'd have to agree with you Kim on the 'remission' 'relief' statement.

I hope your doctor can try you with something else Kittee that brings you better relief. The only other thing I can suggest is getting rest but I'm sure you have done plenty of that and you still feel like crap :( hang on in there.
