I am currently taking pentasa 500 mg 8 pills a day. Entocort 9 mg daily and prednisone 20 mg a day. Have been taking prednisone for 1 month. Had a severe flare last night and at what point is it too much medicine? There is no improvement. The pain was so bad last night I thought I wasn't going to survive. Almost throwing up, dang near blacking out and praying to god the pain stops. I want to be positive but pain like that makes me want to give up . My dr is doing bloods to see if I qualify for a new med but am not sure what the new med is. I think remicade but not sure. Tired of swallowing 1000 pills and still having a severe flare. Trying to see the good. I'm still alive and I'm not in hospital. :ybatty:
If you were feeling well, then I'd say you're probably on too much medicine. But, unfortunately, you're not. If things are as bad as they are even with the combined efforts of Pred and Entocort, cutting down does not sound like a good option at this point. Pentasa definitely isn't cutting it for you; hopefully your next med will be better. Keep in mind that once things settle down, you can taper off the steroids. Maybe things will seem better then.
