When the advice of 2 doctors and their meds don't work, I figured I'd try this forum! :)

I go in to a bit of detail in regards to my symptoms so be forewarned. :ywow:

I have UC, diagnosed with it over a year ago. I have tried Asacol HD, Canasa, hydrocortisone, Cortifoam, and Balsalazide. Both doctors thought my symptoms would have been gone already because they thought it wasn't that severe. Well it has gotten a little worse and I am still taking Balsalazide and Cortifoam.

I am also severely constipated. My diet is much improved the past 2 months. Lots of veggies and Citrucel. But exercising more and eating much better has had almost no effect, it seems a bit worse sometimes even. Often there is too much liquid (and of course blood) when I "evacuate".

I've had exactly one normal bowel movement in the past 12 months. (Normal=not straining much at all, no blood, large "complete" stools).

What is next? What about internal hemorrhoids?

I am sick of taking medicine...mesalamine... and am confused by the severe constipation.

Any help appreciated!

The lots af veggies would do me in. But I have Crohns- when I have trouble I go in a liquid diet and slowly add what I know are "safe" foods for me. I have also had to cut some spices out of my diet.
