I know surgery is the last option but I just dont understand why I cant just have the section of inflammation taken out. Im on Humira and am not in complete remission. I still have inflammation. Why wait until it gets worse. It has been in the same area for 4 years now. These meds make me sick and tired!

I don't think surgery should always be the last resort that many doctors say it should - I've been helped greatly by some surgeries. But surgery can come with high risks, so perhaps your doctors feel the risks from the medications are less than the risks of surgery. Have you specifically asked for surgery? Crohn's can come back in different areas, so having it removed might not necessarily mean it's kept under control.

Mary- I know it can be so frustrating. My main area of Crohn's was located in the terminal ileum, although its still in some areas of the colon, rectum and deuodenum. Anyway, my terminal ileum was a mess for a very long time. I had the bad part removed, and it just came back in the area of the surgery site just months later. It's so frustrating. You can maybe get a 2nd opinion and see what they say, but Crohn's can come back, and often goes to other areas.
