Why is my pain on the left

I was diagnosed with Crohns on the right side and in my traverse colon. But most of my pain is on the left side. Does anyone have this problem? Oh and around my belly button.

Yep, I do. Your disease can "travel". Mine started out on the left and over the years I have had activity in the transverse colon as well as a little in the ileum. It just sort of comes and goes - nothing to be alarmed about really. I have also had ulcers on my tongue. That was the first sign for me that my disease was finally under good control - was when the tongue ulcers finally went away. You just need to get on the right meds........

It started around my belly button, most people get it there intially. I have the odd pain the left now too but my Gi says it could be IBS. Don't forget Crohns doesnt just stay in the Ileum. Can be from the mouth to the anus. But staying calm really makes a big difference. Hang in there.

Oh yeah had that all, all of the time, it really is a pain in the ass!!

But no more thankfully, i have since had it all removed.

Alas. . . . . i don't miss them.

Good luck with it !

My dad had left sided IBS really bad. My Dr put me on Levbid and I was feeling really good so yesterday I ate a hamburger (greasy), chocolate, and selt horrible all night.

That will do it! I can't eat fatty foods and had 1 chocolate turtle, and a bit of cheese, omg I paid..hardly worth it. If you are going to "cheat" or risky foods, use good quality digestive enzymes to help break the fats down. You will learn very quickly.

Mine bounces all over the place. My right sided pain never eases up (probably scar tissue), but the "aches" I feel bounce around everywhere from my left side, upper quadrants under my ribs, near my belly button (where it started), etc.

Nessa hit it on the head. Scar tissue is one of the biggest reasons for pain. Even when I have been in remission I have had the occasional pain because of scar tissue. When waste forms into stool as it moves down the intestinal tract it is "rubbing" against the scar tissue and will at times cause pain. We can't see inside our intestines so we don't know the extent of the scar tissue. It can be anywhere even if you have never been DX in other areas.

So there will be times when you swear your CD is flared up and it just turns out to be scar tissue causing problems. You really need to be able to "learn" what your body is doing and than you can decide the best course of action to take whether it be call your DR or just take it easy with your diet for a little bit.

Yup, this is exactly why I have no idea if I'm in or have ever been in remission! Scar tissue throws everything off. I've never had "typical Crohn's symptoms", either which makes it difficult, too.
