First the disclaimer: I don't have a stoma and I did the metric-to-normal conversions in my head, so nothing I say is truly credible, however...

i think you should be okay. I assume you are drinking something, at least, and we get a lot of water from our food too. If you aren't getting dehydrated or are having any problems, then I think your fluid intake is fine. You could try drinking an extra glass or two with meals or carrying a water bottle around with you, or asking you doctor what he/she thinks. But I think it's like the recommended 8 glasses a day: as long as you're getting what you need and are doing fine, there's no need to drink EXACTLY the recommended amount.

To be honest, I'd have to read the context of the recommendation, myself, and maybe even the remainder of the article.

i will write the article here. the magazine isnt online yet.

"food usually accounts for 20% of your total intake, so if you consume 2 litres of fluid (a little over 8 cups) , you will replace the lost fluids. how much you need to drink is dependant on many factors,
whether your male or female,
your weight, 30ml fluid per kg bodyweight is recommened,
whether you have a small or large frame,
if your pregnant or breast feeding,
how much excersise you take,
whether you have diarhoea or vomiting,
and if the weather is hot".
